About Us

Welcome to CRESCENT HEIGHTS HIGH SCHOOL (CHHS). CHHS is a grade 7 to 12 Junior/Senior high school located at 1201 Division Avenue NE in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. Crescent Heights is one of four High Schools in our city supporting a population of some 60,000 people.


With a student population of 1300 students, there are approximately 210 students per grade. The junior high school students are grouped in homeroom classes while the senior high school students are in classes independent of each other.

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Students, parents, and staff should be aware that the Alberta School Act requires students to conduct themselves in a responsible manner according to the following guidelines:

  • avail themselves of meaningful and relevant learning experiences
  • develop an appreciation for knowledge and model enthusiastic and continuous learning
  • be diligent in pursuing studies
  • attend school regularly and punctually • co-operate fully with those who provide educational programs
  • comply with the rules of the school • account to his/her teachers for his/her conduct
  • respect the rights of others

CHHS STUDENTS HAVE THE RIGHT TO

CHHS STUDENTS HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY TO

• a safe, clean environment both at school and on school busses.

• maintain the safety and cleanliness of the school and busses, avoid all forms of verbal or physical violence and apply safe operating procedures in the use of all equipment.

• be respected. They shall not be subject to prejudice, harassment, intimidation or mean-spirited teasing.

• treat others with courtesy and respect and cooperate with all school staff.

• the security of personal property.

• leave undisturbed others’ personal property.

• peaceful, well organized instruction by competent teachers.

• contribute to the good order of all classes, to comply with the school rules to attend and be punctual for all classes, to be diligent in all studies and to consult the school website for homework assignments when absent.

• be taught, counselled and guided by professional staff whose top priority is the students’ welfare.

• comply with all direction and requests of staff personnel.
