Course Outline

Philosophy

CTS modules are organized in order to provide the student with choice in the areas they study and the way they organize their time and resources. You are given more responsibility to organize resources and ASK when you need assistance. It is realistic for every student, given the time allocated to this class, to achieve five credits (or complete 5 modules). Each student will choose a minimum of 5 modules to be completed during the time allotted. During these modules you will have clear time guidelines and expectations. Any changes must be approved by your teacher.

The CTS philosophy allows you to develop the organizational skills required in the %uFFFDreal world%uFFFD. As you work through the modules I will be evaluating by observing your ability to:

  • complete module requirements
  • follow instructions
  • communication (written and verbal)
  • make deadlines
  • be on time

        Modules:

Each module consists of project work, a written portion, and may or may not include a written test. All module work must be completed and submitted together before a credit will be awarded.

        Attendance and Lates:

In order to successfully complete 5 modules you must BE HERE! If you have to be away, make sure your parents/guardians phone the school the morning you are absent. You are also expected to be prompt. Lates will be reflected in your final mark. When students are repeatedly late (and have been warned), students will be required to make up the time at lunch.

Keys To Success in Fashion Studies

        • Be creative, interested and ready to try some new sewing projects and techniques in sewing for yourself, your home, or for another person.
        • Discuss each module and its project with your teacher before beginning to make sure you understand it completely. Make sure the project suits the requirement of the module, your ability level and also remember to challenge yourself. Modules may not be repeated. Some modules have pre-requisites.
        • Any sewing done at home must be approved of beforehand by the teacher. The majority of the work must be completed at school.
        • Project must be accompanied by any written components before being handed in.
        • Arrive on time and be organized to work in each class. Book work should be completed when sewing is not available.
        • Time management is an important part of this course, and is included in the marking.
        • Clean up. It is important to return classroom equipment to its original location as it is required by other sewing students (bobbin cases, scissors, etc.)
        • Be on time. Attendance = Success
        • Enjoy what you are doing!

        Module Management Plan

You are required to complete a minimum of 5 modules. You must complete introductory modules before you continue with intermediate and advanced modules in a particular strand.
